Many Mossi live in Burkina Faso, where some Mossi areas have well-established churches. However, 1.9 million Mossi people have immigrated over several generations from Burkina Faso to Cote d’Ivoire searching for work. Many have spent their entire lives there; others are new immigrants. All have left their homes and family in search of a better life.
The Mossi are a male dominated society. They are very respectful of older people and do not consider one to be an adult until married with children.
