Telling stories
from the Bible chronologically is an effective way to engage an oral culture
such as the Bambara. A new group is meeting to hear stories in the village
of 'Kaybougou.'
This is the core group of men attending the storying group. They are learning
to read so they can read the stories for themselves. We start our evening
storying sessions around 8.30 PM. One by one we drop out, lay down on mats
and go
to
sleep. Some go on reading to each other until 2:30 AM.
