In Search of "Hidden" Peoples

Pray for protection and good health for missionary teams and volunteers that are traveling throughout West Africa in search of "hidden" people groups. Some of these teams will be traveling treacherous roads and crossing mountain paths in search of pockets of people who have never had the opportunity to hear the Gospel. Ask the Lord to lead these teams to the darkest crevasses where there has never been even a glimmer of light. Pray that God will lead them to a "man of peace" (Luke 10:6) in every village and give them the ability to communicate clearly and assess the needs with wisdom. Every one of these people groups are in need of a church or individual willing to do whatever it takes to share the love of Christ. Ask the Lord to begin even now to burden the hearts of His people for these forsaken souls so that they, too, may know the Savior.

Rita Salter, Engagement Team

As the group of four volunteers arrived at the Mandyak village in Senegal, women were cooking lunch, men were seated and patiently waiting for the African tea, and the children were walking home from school. Curious as to why this group of strangers had come to their village, people gathered around as the strangers accepted the chairs that had been offered. After the customary introductions, the team leader stated that they had traveled from America to come and meet the Mandyak people, a people for whom they had been praying over the last six months. As the crowd increased and conversation continued, the opportunity arose to share about God's greatest gift. From creation to the resurrection, the Mandyak people heard the story of Jesus. Many admitted that they had never heard this story. On this particular day, at least twelve individuals prayed to receive Christ. One new believer is the schoolmaster! He oversees a school of more than 500 children and intends to teach his students about what he heard that day. In late May, the adopting church, Calvary Baptist of Neosho, Missouri will return to continue the work they begun in January. Praise God for the churches that are responding to the call to bring a witness to the people groups who have never heard! Pray that other churches will "adopt" unreached people groups that have no Christian witness.

In January 2006, a volunteer team from Ogletown Baptist church in Delaware came to Nigeria to help survey the Chawai people. They were considering adopting this group for a long-term effort. Read the results of this survey and its impact...
