The Yari entered into Burkina as salt and kola nut merchants.  However, for the most part they are farmers. 

The practice of their Islamic beliefs is the strongest characteristic of the Yari culture. They very rarely convert to Christianity to this point, but other ethnic groups around them have been converted to their Islamic beliefs.
