The Nafana are a small people group in about 17 villages in northeastern Cote d'Ivoire. A hospitable people, they have avoided serious conflict with other more aggressive groups. The Nafana are mostly subsistence farmers, raising yams and corn for food and cashews for a cash crop. Dominant religious heritages are African Traditional Religion (ATR) and Islam. There is one growing Baptist church in a predominantly ATR village. They have suffered persecution but this has served to strengthen the believers' faith. Now there are a few believers in three other villages. No scripture portions in their dialect exist except the ones translated as Bible stories for the purpose of Chronological Bible Storying. Worship and discipleship materials have been developed.
